How Much Does a Children's Entertainer Cost in Dorset? Honest 2025 Guide

The transparent 2025 cost guide for hiring a children’s entertainer in Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset — including what cheaper and more expensive packages actually include.

Nobody wants to ask “how much?” first. So here's an honest breakdown of what it actually costs to book a children’s entertainer in Dorset in 2025, what's included at each price band, and where to spend your money for the biggest impact.

The typical 2025 price bands in Dorset

  • £80–£150 — hobbyists, weekend starters, limited kit
  • £200–£275 — established local pros for a 1 to 1.5-hour show
  • £275–£350 — full 2-hour show + party dancing for every child + extras
  • £350+ — specialists (bubble shows, stilt-walkers, full-on circus packages)

My packages in 2025 start at £200 for a 45-minute show and run to around £350 for a full 2-hour deluxe option — all with party dancing and wand-&-certificate for the birthday child included.

What’s usually included

At the pro end of the market, your fee should always cover: the performance itself, all set-up and take-down, a portable sound system, party dancing for every guest, a wand and certificate for the birthday child, public liability insurance and the entertainer's DBS certificate. You shouldn't be paying extra for any of that.

What’s sometimes extra (and worth asking)

  • Travel beyond a 30-mile radius
  • Saturday evening slots or bank-holiday weekends
  • Face painting as an add-on (usually £50–£75 per 45 mins)
  • Full disco set-up with lights (usually £75–£125 extra)
  • Very large groups (40+ children) may need a second performer

Where it’s tempting to save (but you shouldn’t)

I’ve met many parents who booked £80 entertainers and then had to call me back the following year to redo it properly. The entertainer is the structural spine of the party — if that wobbles, everything else wobbles with it. Save money on food, bags, decorations, venue or cake, but don’t save on the hour that will determine whether the kids remember the day fondly.

A realistic total budget for a 20-child party

  1. 1Venue hire: £50
  2. 2Entertainer: £275
  3. 3Food and drinks for 20: £80
  4. 4Cake: £40
  5. 5Decorations and balloons: £25
  6. 6Party bags: £40
  7. 7TOTAL: around £510

That’s roughly £25 per guest for a memorable, stress-free party. The alternative is four hours of home chaos, half-eaten food and a knackered parent. I know which one I’d pick.
